Virtual Try-on Extension
Timeline:
2025.05 — 2025.8
My Role:
UX Designer & Researcher
Team:
CTO, CEO, Engineer, Designers, UX Researchers
Overview:
This Chrome Extension enables online shoppers to virtually try on fashion products and find the right size, creating a seamless and trustworthy online shopping experience by bridging the gap between digital browsing and physical fitting.
During my internship, I focused on refining the visual interface and enhancing the user experience of the extension based on real user feedback. I redesigned the extension popup window, and introduced new elements such as a close button, and a mini version of the popup for quick access. These updates not only improved usability but also strengthened the product’s user engagement.
We began by mapping out the user flow to understand how users interact with the platform and identify the key steps in their journey.
Based on this flow, we mapped out the onboarding process—including adding the extension and logging in—as well as the steps users take when engaging with the two main features—virtual try on and size recommendation. Through this analysis, we found that onboarding plays a crucial role in shaping first impressions, while the extension interface is where users interact most frequently.
Then we conducted user research to understand their pain points, and determine which aspects of the onboarding and extension interface needed improvement.
We defined the following three problems as our main design direction
01
03
No Clear Tutorial
Problem:
Users feel confused when using the Chrome extension for the first time since there is no built-in tutorial or clear guidance on how to operate key features.
Opportunity:
Add an interactive tutorial that introduces main functions and usage steps, helping users quickly understand how to use the extension effectively and confidently.
Cannot close popup window
Problem
Users cannot close the popup loading window while browsing, which causes frustration and interrupts their shopping flow. The lack of a closing or minimizing option makes the experience feel restrictive and less user-friendly.
Opportunity
Add a close or minimize button to the popup window, allowing users to freely control their interaction flow. This small improvement increases flexibility, reduces frustration, and enhances overall usability.
Size Recommendation Overwhelming
02
Inconsistent Visual Design
Problem
The overall visual design looks unpolished and inconsistent with the brand image. Mismatched colors, typography, and spacing make the interface feel disconnected and reduce users’ trust and engagement.
Opportunity
Refine the visual system to align with the brand identity by improving color palette, typography hierarchy, and spacing consistency. A cohesive design will enhance brand recognition and create a more professional and trustworthy user experience.
